Diode lasers are adequate for cutting, recontouring and haemostatic treatment of soft tissues. It makes surgical interventions more comfortable than a traditional scalpel. It can be used for the removal of the gums that surrounds an erupting tooth, in the case of obturations for the excision of the gums grown in the caries, in case of periodontal diseases for the removal of the infected area, for teeth whitening. But first of all it can be used for the cutting of the labial and lingual frenulum. Its main advantage is that – considering the fact that this intervention mostly takes place in childhood – we don’t have to use a scalpel in the mouth of the children and to stitch the wound.
In the case we use a laser diode the intervention lasts only 2 minutes after the local ansthesia there is no blood and no stitches, the child can leave the office with a smile on their face.
